Every wedding I have ever gone to or been invited to included registry cards with the invitations. But I've read on here that that's not okay to do, which is total news to me. You are inviting your guests to a wedding not a cocktail party, surely this information will not be the deciding factor as to whether or not guests attend.

While it's acceptable, and smart, to include a link to your wedding website on your invitation, don't include the registry link(s).

There's no need to mention gifts at all on your invitation (many find it mercenary).
